In essence, Part 2 of the book has four objectives:
(1) To encourage the reader to look more closely at his own cultural orientation, so that he
becomes more aware of what it is and what it means to him.
(2) As a consequence, to convince the reader to accept fully that other people may have other
cultural orientations, since they underwent a different upbringing in a different environment.
(3) Hopefully, as a further consequence, to convince the reader that he should approach the
cultural values of colleagues and business partners in an unprejudiced manner.
(4) Finally, to help the reader to deal with the seemingly irreconcilable dilemmas which are
inherent in inter-cultural encounters.
